Orthokeratology is an innovative and rapidly evolving area within optometry that provides us with the opportunity to expand our roles and improve patient outcomes through advanced lens design techniques. This highly interactive masterclass seeks to deepen understanding and enhance skills in this specialised field.

Philip Cheng, a fellow of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, will provide you with expert tips on patient selection and lens fitting. Learn how to manage patient and parent expectations and troubleshoot common issues. Discover how to effectively use a corneal topographer to evaluate corneas for suitability of orthokeratology and assess lens fitting and treatment outcomes.

Jacinda Van from the renowned specialty contact lens practice Richard Lindsay and Associates will address what happens when things go wrong in orthokeratology. She will help you to identify and manage both unexpected orthokeratology treatment outcomes and potential complications to ultimately achieve success.

These sessions will incorporate intimate discussion and participation among attendees, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience for all.

Session 1: Orthokeratology – A Practical Guide To Fitting Ortho K In Practice

Presented by Phillip Cheng

Philip Cheng, a fellow of the International Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control, will provide you with expert tips on patient selection, and lens fitting. Learn how to manage patient and parent expectations and troubleshoot common issues. Session 2: Orthokeratology Troubleshooting

Orthokeratology can be rewarding for both practitioners and patients alike, but what happens when things go wrong. Jacinda Van from the renowned speciality contact lens practice Richard Lindsay and Associates will help you to learn how to identify and manage both unexpected orthokeratology treatment outcomes and potential orthokeratology complications to help you to ultimately achieve success.

Session 3: Interactive Orthokeratology Demonstration

Presented by Phillip Cheng

The masterclass will conclude with a comprehensive demonstration of orthokeratology lens design, led by Phillip Cheng. During this hour-long session, participants will exercise their newly acquired knowledge and skills in a practical setting, using the EyeSpace software to design lenses tailored to individual patient needs.

About Phillip

Philip Cheng, a University of Melbourne graduate, founded Eyecare Concepts | The Myopia Clinic in Melbourne in 2017. Renowned in myopia management, he has presented globally and written extensively for industry publications. Philip is a key opinion leader for major vision care companies and a board member of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania. In 2020, he was awarded a Fellowship of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (FIAOMC).

About Jacinda

Jacinda Van from the renowned speciality contact lens practice, Richard Lindsay and Associates, has extensive experience in advanced contact lens care. Her personal experience with orthokeratology in controlling her own myopia progression has led her to develop a special interest in orthokeratology lenses and myopia control.
