VASSS Glasses

The Victorian Aboriginal Spectacles Subsidy Scheme (VASSS) was established in 2010 under the VES, a State Government program, and provides glasses at a cost of $10 to Aboriginal community members.

Choose from a range of metal and plastic frames approved by community Elders.  Depending on your prescription, single vision lenses for long distance and/or reading, bifocals or multifocal lenses are available.

Please note: transition lenses and spare pairs are available at extra cost (ask your optometrist for details)

Contact Lenses

ACO Eye Health prescribes most major types of lenses, as well as standard soft silicone-hydrogel lenses, we also fit custom Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lenses, miniscleral, orthokeratology and prosthetic lenses. These lenses enable improved vision for a diverse range of conditions including astigmatism, keratoconus, corneal graft, post-refractive surgery, pellucid marginal degeneration, presbyopia, myopia and aphakia.

All patients must have a general eye examination to evaluate their suitability for contact lenses.

Routine contact lens care is available at all ACO Eye Health locations. If you require advanced contact lens care, you may be referred to our Carlton location. Private eye care practitioners are welcome to refer patients to ACO Eye Health for advanced contact lens services.
